Daytime Emmy Awards and nominations that Jim Henson and the Muppets have received, primarily for Bear in the Big Blue House and Sesame Street. From 2007 on, the children's awards were split off as the Children's Programming Emmy Awards, but they were still awarded on the same night as the main ceremony. [1]

Sesame Street has won 117 awards as of the 2008 ceremony. The show received a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009; the ceremony aired on August 30th on the CW. Sesame Street was nominated for 15 Daytime Emmys in 2009, including Outstanding Performer in a Children's Series nominations for Chris Knowings (Chris), Kevin Clash (Elmo), Martin P. Robinson (Telly Monster) and Leslie Carrara-Rudolph (Abby Cadabby), plus nominations for Outstanding Pre-School Children's Series and for New Approaches in Daytime Children's TV.

Big Bird, Elmo, Cookie Monster, Gordon, Bob, Maria, Luis, Abby Cadabby, Dorothy, Zoe, Chris, Telly, and Oscar the Grouch performed a medley of songs on the awards broadcast to celebrate the 40th anniversary. Sandra Oh presented the Lifetime Achievement Award. The broadcast opened with Oscar working at the will call window of the theatre, denying admission to Gordon and Elmo to the ceremony, but allowing actor Erik Estrada to enter without a ticket. Just as everyone is about to leave the stage, Cookie Monster steals the award and comments that not only is the award a great honor... IT LOOK DELICIOUS! He proceeds to start to eat the award. He then comments that it taste better than Latin Grammy!

Big Bird is also mentioned and shown in a clip during the opening number of the ceremony.
