Buster Poindexter is the stage name of David Johansen (b. 1950), a singer, songwriter and actor. Johansen was known in the 1970's as the lead singer of the New York Dolls, and then found worldwide fame in the late 80's as pop lounge singer Poindexter. His most popular song was the 1987 hit "Hot Hot Hot".
In 1989, Poindexter was the guest star in Episode 108: Musicians of The Jim Henson Hour, where he sang "Hot Hot Hot".
Elmo also sang "Hot Hot Hot" on the 1997 Sesame Street album Hot! Hot! Hot! Dance Songs.
