Cyranose de Bergerac, a poet with a foot-long nose, tries to help the Queen of France finish her poem in a "Monsterpiece Theater" segment on Sesame Street. Unfortunately, the word used to finish it is the word he's the most sensitive to: "nose." Hearing that word makes him go into a frenzy, swishing his nose back and forth like a sword.

After this segment aired, Cyranose appeared in a few episodes on Season 24, beginning with Episode 3010. He made a brief cameo in Elmo's World: Nose as seen in Episode 4143.

The character was inspired by Edmond Rostand's 1897 play Cyrano de Bergerac. José Ferrer starred in the 1950 film adaptation, which was one of the films Kermit the Frog chose when he appeared as a guest programmer for Turner Classic Movies in 2007.
