Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is the home video division of Sony Pictures Entertainment, which distributes releases from Columbia Pictures and TriStar Pictures.

In 1998, the division, then known as Columbia TriStar Home Video, began distributing film and TV titles from The Jim Henson Company, primarily under the label Jim Henson Home Entertainment. Muppets from Space and The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland, released concurrently on VHS and DVD in 1999, instead carry the Jim Henson Pictures branding. Columbia TriStar's output diminished by 2004, when Disney purchased The Muppets and Bear in the Big Blue House, and the Henson Company signed with HIT Entertainment to distribute most of their other family properties.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, renamed as such in 2004, retains distribution rights of Henson productions released theatrically by Columbia and TriStar, as well as The Dark Crystal and The StoryTeller. Additionally, video volumes of The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss continued to be released by Sony as late as 2008. Fraggle Rock and Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas, which were previously distributed by HIT and Gaiam Vivendi Entertainment, were given their first Blu-ray release by Sony in 2018.

Sony Wonder, the longtime distributor and producer of Sesame Street home video and audio, was originally the children's division of Sony Music Entertainment. In 2007, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment took control of the division, becoming a sole video label for various children's properties.
