Jim Henson's Creature Shop built a full body puppet of the Coca-Cola Polar Bear for Coca-Cola promotional appearances. They later modified the design and created additional suits for the World of Coca-Cola museum located in Atlanta, Georgia.

The suit is usually puppeteered, although it can be featured as just a walk-around costume. John Henson made appearances in the original suit for Coca-Cola public relations tours, which sometimes involved the bear sledding and skiing.

Matt Vogel performed the bear for a brief time before joining Sesame Street.

The character since toured on occasion, appearing at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

Animal Planet's 50 Greatest TV Animals listed the Polar Bear on its ranking of creatures, along with Kermit the Frog and Big Bird.
