Child's Play is a 1988 horror movie about a serial killer called Chucky whose soul becomes trapped inside a doll. The film spawned a series of sequels and other franchise tie-ins.
- During a March 2012 interview on Talk Nerdy, Walter says that he was a stand-in for Chucky on the films.
- While promoting Muppets Most Wanted in March 2014, Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy were asked by Radio Times what a typical night-in might be for them. Kermit replies, "People won't expect this from me -- I like those Chucky films. Remember Chucky, the evil little Chucky guy?" Piggy says she likes Downton Abbey, and Kermit counters that he'd love it too if Chucky were in it. Kermit's taste in film had changed in the 21 years since he wrote about not liking horror stories (specifically, The Silence of the Lambs) in One Frog Can Make a Difference.
- The opening scene of the first movie features Brad Dourif's character going into the toy store where he'd eventually find the doll. A Big Bird doll can be seen in the window as he enters, and also later when the store blows up.
- Later in the movie, a Muppet Babies playhouse can be seen when Andy hides in the closet.
