Gibson in a "predicament"

Charles Gibson (b. 1943) is a television personality best known as an anchor on ABC's Good Morning America from 1987 to 2006. In this role, he interacted with the Muppets during several of their appearances. Gibson was a professed Muppet fan, and Kermit the Frog appeared on the show for Gibson's final day on June 28, 2006.

Gibson voiced Charles Blitzen, a Muppet reindeer news anchor, in Elmo's Christmas Countdown. And in a 2007 Sesame Street episode, he presented "predicament" as the Word of the Day.

Gibson was the anchor for World News with Charles Gibson, the flagship evening newscast by the ABC News division, until his retirement in late 2009, when Diane Sawyer replaced him. A video montage sending him off into retirement on December 18, featured goodbyes from David Muir with Murray Monster and Abby Cadabby, as well as Reporter Kermit.

In the book Before You Leap, Kermit talks of his friendship with Gibson and how Kermit's role as a reporter on Sesame Street helped the news anchor with his daughters. Unable to comprehend what their father did for a living, Gibson told his daughters, "I do what Kermit does on Sesame Street."
