Cover Songs

Has there been any effort to make a listing of all the interesting covers (not spoofs, but genuine remakes) of songs from the Muppet Show, or the like? For example, I had no idea there was a Floyd Pepper version of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" until yesterday. User:Steamboat28 (talk) 7:49, 23 April 2007

Most of the songs used on The Muppet Show are straight cover versions, which means that browsing Category:Muppet Show Songs, (and for that matter Category:Muppets Tonight Songs), ought to be a good start. I think a list in those cases would be prohibitively long and redundant. -- Wendy (talk) 22:07, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Lt.Powers just added this to Category:Music, which revealed something. Except for the batch of movie song categories Brad just added and possibly one or two others, all the contents of this are currently already in Music. So I'd suggest either we take every individual song category out of Music, or else we include them all and just dump this as a category. The former might work better. -- Andrew Leal (talk) 20:45, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

With the exception of "Musical References" and "Music Videos" all of the sub-cat in "Music" are either a songs or an albums. I would say either (1) get rid of the "songs" category all together and have "music" include all the albums and songs, references and music videos. Or (2) take all of the songs categories out of "music" (because they are all in the sub-cat of "songs") and put all the "älbums" in an "albums" sub-cats (which would go in "music" and "merchandise"). This would leave "music" with 4-ish sub-cats; including the larger "songs" and "albums"). -- Brad D. (talk) 21:12, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
Well, there's also Disco, Classical Music, and Sesame Street Classical; if need be they could be grouped into a "Musical Themes" or something, but I wouldn't dump them in with songs. Still, either of the two works for me. -- 21:42, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
Brad's choice (2) appears the superior choice to me. I was thinking about removing the redundancy myself when I added this category to Category:Music, but thought it might be better to leave well enough alone for the time being. Powers 21:07, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
Well, I moved the few "song" categories that were in both the main "music" category and the "songs" sub-category with the rest into just "songs". There is no need to be in both the main category and one of its sub-categories. I also moved the "albums" into an album sub-category. The remainder are still all in "music", but I think the organization works fine now. -- Brad D. (talk) 05:07, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

Songs with Same Titles

There have been quite a few songs that, although completely different, have the same title. There have been two different Sesame Street songs called Air (one was sung by Bip Bippadotta and the other was sung by Guy Smiley), and there were two different songs titled Naptime (one was sung by Ernie and Bert on Sesame Street, the other was a mostly instrumental song performed by The Electric Mayhem in The Muppets Wizard of Oz). How should these kinds of songs be listed? Should the title just be listed, with info on both songs, or should there be perenthesis after the titles, listed somehting like Naptime (Sesame Street) and Naptime (Muppet Wizard of Oz)? --Minor muppetz 05:27, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
