5000 titles?[]

Currently, we're 6 books away from 1000 in this category. But a recent Wall Street Journal article claims that Sesame Workshop has published nearly 5000 titles. Add Dragon Tales, Sagwa, etc, still no where near the amount. Are there really 4000 SS books that haven't been written about on Muppet Wiki? Would they be counting simple reprints? -- Zanimum 18:34, December 7, 2009 (UTC)

It's this article about the upcoming Sesame e-books -- "The move gives Sesame Workshop an opportunity to tap its library of nearly 5,000 titles as electronic books prove to be one of publishing's fastest-growing segments." It's not clear what that's based on -- it could include reprints, international stuff, or who the heck knows. Maybe there are another 4,000 Sesame books out there! -- Danny (talk) 01:57, December 8, 2009 (UTC)
Plus it could encompass the Library/Treasury/On My Way with Sesame etc., individual volumes of which aren't tracked in our books category. I suspect Danny's right in thinking a lot of it could well be international stuff, plus there are indeed still an array of Sesame' books we don't have covered here (likely not 4,000 excluding international stuff, but several hundred to maybe even a thousand seems credible, especially all those little board books and whether they're counting things like sticker books or those books with sound boards) and tossing in the other non-Sesame but Workshop owned stuff: Electric Company and 321 Contact books from the 70s and 80s, several Big Bag titles not here, the various GhostWriter books and all that malarkey. -- Andrew Leal (talk) 02:09, December 8, 2009 (UTC)
I wouldn't be surprised if they were counting issues of Sesame Street Magazine. We've got a nice collection of 250 on that page, but there's lots missing. —Scott (talk) 04:26, December 9, 2009 (UTC)

Category portal[]

I put together a category portal for Sesame Street Books. I tried to choose books that I think people are likely to have a nostalgic affection for -- and therefore they'll be likely to click on those pages. What do you guys think? -- Danny (talk) 01:58, November 3, 2009 (UTC)

That's lovely, and a nice representative cross-section of Sesame books over the years. That's all. -- Andrew Leal (talk) 02:10, November 3, 2009 (UTC)
That's a cool collection of classic titles. I wish I had them all! -- Ken (talk) 02:34, November 3, 2009 (UTC)
Seems good to me. Wattamack4 02:35, November 3, 2009 (UTC)Alex
No Ernie & Bert books? I like most of the ones you picked, but I'd swap out one of them for an E&B title... maybe The Ernie & Bert Book or What's Up in the Attic?? -- Wendy (talk) 02:52, November 3, 2009 (UTC)
Or Bert's Hall of Great Inventions or What Ernie and Bert Did on Their Summer Vacation. -- Ken (talk) 02:55, November 3, 2009 (UTC)
Nice list I think. But I'd vote to include The Ernie & Bert Book as well. Maybe take out one of the coloring books or one of the two Sherlock books to make room. —Scott (talk) 04:32, November 3, 2009 (UTC)
Oh, good point -- I'll swap in The Ernie & Bert Book for The Invention of Paper, and put it live on the category. Obviously, we can make more changes if we want... Thanks, guys! -- Danny (talk) 20:29, November 3, 2009 (UTC)

Looking for Ernie book[]

I'm looking for a book my fiancee said she read as a child, where Ernie was a farmer and it began, "Once there was a farm boy, poor but honest as the Dickens. And he worked from dawn to midnight, pitching hay and feeding chickens." If anyone can let me know where I can find this story, I would greatly appreciate it. Beakyman 19:54, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi, Beakyman! I searched under "farmer Ernie", and it looks like it's in The Sesame Street Library Volume 12. There's a story in there called "The Magic Apple", and the page mentions "Farmer Ernie". It was also published in The Sesame Street Storybook. Hope this helps! -- Ken (talk) 21:44, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your help. I'll look into those books to see. Thanks again. Beakyman 23:53, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Attention[]

We have almost 600 Sesame Street books now -- an impressive collection to say the least -- but, I don't think even half of them have synopses yet. This is obviously a long-term Attention tag placement, but I think there are plenty of folks who have some books laying around that they could summarize here. I'm guilty myself of not having added summaries for the books I have... — Scott (talk) 18:43, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

I'm always happy to grab any I find at the library and post away. I'll continue to keep my eyes open for any I come across. George B. (talk) 04:30, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
I'll see what i can do. I'm trying to get all of my SS books and look into them and add them to the list as well as some of the alternate covers put up too. I might be able to do some of this coming saturday. Kyle (talk) 8:32, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
Awesome. I worked on some today and still have a few more I checked out to add info on. George B. (talk) 05:33, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
