More episodes

This channel has uploaded a bunch of episodes of Sesame English, including ones we don't have. Since we don't know the disc order these came in, like the ordering we have here, how should the "Ep-nav" template go? To be honest, I don't think we should even have it on these pages, since there's no chronological order for these, at least as far as we know ("Episode 101: All in the Family" is clearly the first episode [see here: (YouTube)] in terms of continuity, but the way we're listing and ordering it, it's the fifth episode). First, in general, that's a great find. I had some episodes on my backupdrive (currently inaccessible), so here's some screenshots I took from them of select actors, but hadn't uploaded, for use on the relevant pages:

As to the specific question, that is an issue. I personally don't really care for having episode pages without the "Episode blank" designation, since it makes it harder to figure out that it's not a movie, special, series, book, song, or other essentially stand-alone project (akward as it would be, I'd sort of favor having the series name and "Episode," followed by the episode title; we have some odd disambiguation as is because of this). Finding the actual numbering, I actually might have had it for some, but it didn't come from the DVDs, but from the Berlitz plan and airings in some countries (whereas the DVDs listed there are thematic, and the only reason "All in the Family" looks like the fifth episode is because we have the DVDs listed alphabetically and not in any other order). Right now the episode navigation seems to be alphabetical too, so we may have to stick to that. I'll try to dig further to see if we can find a master list. I know Sesame Workshop made one with an actual order, but I'm not sure we could find it (a lot of the materials are likely now offline). Still, far more likely than finding, say, an actual episode guide to Big Bag (which we also have no episode pages for, although I may try to rectify that at some point, via titles from VHS releases or in Paley Center holdings, but I couldn't find clear airdates or episode order). EDIT: I just saw the navigation bar and see what you mean. It was created using the order of the episodes on the DVDs *but* also using the alphabetical DVD order, which means nothing. So if we did have a navigation template (I'm sort of in agreement with dumping it), it would have to be just alphabetical until we found the actual official Sesame Workshop or Berlitz order. -- Andrew Leal (talk) 04:47, September 1, 2013 (UTC)

I just found this, which lists the first 20 episodes. "All in the Family" is first, as I assumed. This is good, but there's 58 others that have no order then. - Oscarfan (talk) 20:10, September 2, 2013 (UTC)

No known order yet anyway, but we're getting there. For example, I found this listing, arranged by the ISBN order or whatever, but that order matches the list above, plus it clarifies the next 14. -- Andrew Leal (talk) 21:32, September 2, 2013 (UTC)

Some more from another library. This one doesn't have the first couple of episodes, but again the order matches otherwise and seems to go to the end, ENGLISH&Paxina=2 here. It would be nice to have a more official list but the numbering system they use is visible, as far as cataloguing, matches with the other library, and it seems pretty clear then that the DVD order matched the original release order for the complete set, versus the more selective "themed" sets we have listed here, which seem to be the ones available in the US and Canada. I'll keep digging but I think we're close to solving this (and I know my backup drive, if I can ever recover access to it, had a couple of those episodes not in the themed sets). -- Andrew Leal (talk) 21:36, September 2, 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, that's all good info and the idea that they were later released in theme sets after an initial release seems very likely. It's great we've found all this info though; we have 51 of the apparent 78 episodes listed (15 of those 51 won't have guides, unless that user finds them and uploads them online), so progress! - Oscarfan (talk) 22:00, September 2, 2013 (UTC)
