Renaming these[]

Despite being virtually the only who edits these things, I think this is something that requires some other brain power and input. I've been wondering if we should rename these episodes, because something looks uneven having the episodes from season 9 label with "4" prefixes (as per PBS listings), while season 10 ones have "10" (as per V-me) listings). So, I was thinking two possibilities:

  • Renaming the ones from season 8 and 9 with appropraite season prefixes, like the season 10 episodes have (i.e. Episodio 418 would become Episodio 918)
  • Arrange them in numerical order, using accurate numbers per the series' chronological order. (Example: Episodio 418 would become Episodio 0798).

Should we consider one of those options (especially when we get episodes older that may sources can provide), or just keep it the way it now? - Oscarfan 02:14, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

That's a good question! Can you describe how we know the episode numbers that we know? How many episodes are there altogether? -- Danny (talk) 05:46, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
Well, the info for the Season 8 episodes I found here (which is how the PBS stations refer to them), the info for season 9 and 10 came from V-me's website (which refers to the season 9 episodes as just "Episodio 1", but naming them "401" is based on the PBS listings)
As for how many episodes, in retrospect, Wikipedia seem to have a reliable list until it saw there were no seasons listed for 1993, which is when most of the early Plaza Sesamo videos came out. But, if we can trust them, there's about 975 episodes (including the 65 new ones produced in 2008). - Oscarfan 11:00, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
Hmm, that's interesting. If there's about 975 episodes, and PBS was showing season 9, then where do you think the 400 numbers come from?
In general, I would think that if there's fewer than 100 episodes a season, it makes sense to do season numbering -- 1001, 1002, etc. That way, it eliminates the possibility of being wrong about how many total episodes there are. -- Danny (talk) 17:32, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
I agree. It works better that way, until we get info for older episodes and how they're numbered. - Oscarfan 19:45, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
Wikipedia may be correct as far as omitting 1993 but it's always hard to tell (since we don't know what their source is). Since Plaza Sesamo has run irregularly, with years passing between seasons, looking around, it seems the 1993 video releases featured new bookending material but may not have corresponded to actual new episodes (and then a few years later, the big revamp added Lola and Pancho). One of these days, I still need to put together a clearer history of the stops and starts and cast turnovers from the CTW materials and the commercial album and VHS releases and the like. -- Andrew Leal (talk) 20:19, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
What about trying to contact Sesame Street Workshop or the producers of the show to hear if they can cast some light on the starts and stops of the show and how they are numbering the episodes ? Henrik (talk) 20:37, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

I contacted PBS Kids Sprout before about the episodes they show on demand, but got no real information. I just contacted SW, but they rarely respond to the emails. - Oscarfan 20:55, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Well, it's apparent that SW won't respond to my email, so I believe we should go with season numbers until we can prove Wikipedia's list is accurate. - Oscarfan 18:18, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

I made this list here of the possible amount of episodes if they were to go in the numerical order Wikipedia claims they would. If anyone thinks it's accurate, we'll go with it for the episodes. If not, then we'll just use seasonal prefixes. - Oscarfan 00:16, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

So, I quess we'll just go with # order. I'll start moving everything later in the week. - Oscarfan 20:35, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

Something just hit me...[]

My Spanish station shows an hour long block of Plaza Sesamo on weekends, and Saturdays are repeats of the previous season, while Sundays show the new episodes. And I have reason to believe why I can't find the episodes I listed below are because THEY are in fact season 10, while the ones in the category are older (although I think [I haven't look at the credits on my tapes] the copyright date is 2005) This evidenced by the fact that the V-me guides list episodes with "10" prefixes (possibly for the tenth season) and they episodes listed below are presumably these ones (the one with R and 15 [the 1st episode I taped ever] is listed there as 1005). Can anyone help clear this up, cause online sources for these episodes are scarce. - Oscarfan 15:55, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Okay, seeing the various pages for the celebrities that appeared during these episodes, I see they're cited as 2005, so I quess that would be season 9. - Oscarfan 00:50, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Unknown episodes[]

To chronicle various episodes of Plaza Sesamo I have, but cannot find an official number for it, I'm making a list here. I will include the sponsors and dubbed Muppet bits to help someone (if they can) identify them.

Telly and Elmo make music together
The Count presents the number 8
  • I and 7
Zoe, Rosita and Baby Bear cheer for the letter I
Telly pretends to be animals

Other international guides[]

moved from Category talk:Sesamstrasse Episodes

Heinrik seems to have a steady format for a typical Sesamstrasse episode, which makes me think of the possibility of having ones for other international Sesame Streets. They all would work in the table format. The only problem I can think of would be what to call them, as unlike the actual American show, most of the other international versions don't have episode numbers in the theme. This channel provides descriptions for Plaza Sesamo episodes (which I could match with my PS tapes), but they're not number by the series, but by season. - Oscarfan 23:44, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

Sesamstrasse do not show any episode number in the show it self, the numbers comes from NDR's website. What about the episodes numbers on the page you linked to ? You say that they number them by season so do the numbers mean that episode 1041 is from season 10 episode 41 ?
But I do see the problem with the numbering, when theres no source for a episode number or name. I have a handful of old Svenska Sesam episodes with no apparent order other than some of them follow the same story line. Since I only have 8 of them, then they could be tracked on one page. Henrik (talk) 11:01, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
I'm not so sure about the 1000's episodes they list (I'm pretty sure they're not from the current season). The episodes listed below those (1-65) are # by the season's episode order. (i.e. Episodio 1 is the first episode of the season, Episodio 50 the fiftieth) - Oscarfan 00:39, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
Well if you know the season then you could add it with something like this "Episodio SXXEXX" S for the season followed by the number, and E for the episode number. I used Episodio, but depending on what the result of the discussion on current events are gonna end up with then thats just temporary. Henrik (talk) 09:51, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
I think I found a way of getting numbers by the season. I look at Wikipedia, which lists the number of episodes for each season, totaling to 975. So, I probably use V-Me's listings to identify them from there. - Oscarfan 04:17, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
The episode numbers from my collection are listed by season, but the seasons appear to be aired every five years. The shows from 1995 are listed as "201", for example, as evident by one episode accidentally showing the tape countdown at the beginning, giving me the episode number. The recent episodes get their numbers from PBS schedules on the Web. Shows made in 2000 were listed as 301, 302, etc. Shows from 2004/2005 were 401, 402, etc. I don't know how they were originally numbered, but one TV special I have features the original theme from the show in the 1980s (with Montoya and Bodoque), and the show number appeared as "17", so apparently the original shows were numbered in order of the amount of shows before changing to being numbered by season. -- MuppetDude 15:20, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
Ah, I see. I've seen a few sites (such as this) refer to the episodes in that fashion. Thanks for clearing it up! - Oscarfan 20:31, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
