Deleted cameosEdit

Should we count celebrities who filmed cameos but were not featured in an actual movie as actors and cameos (such as Billy Crystal, Ricky Gervais, Kathy Griffin, Mila Kunis, Wanda Sykes and Danny Trejo)? -- Brad D. (talk) 20:28, November 23, 2011 (UTC)

Hmmm. Yeah, this is kind of a new one. Right now, especially since footage in some cases appeared in trailers, and especially given how likely it is that we'll see "deleted scenes" on the DVD (like we did for It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie; no celebrity cameos, but it had cameos for Bill Barretta and Kirk Thatcher). We omitted Snoop Dogg, and I think that's right since we know footage of that pretty much will never see the light of day (assuming he even completed all his scenes).
For this one, my feeling is handle Officer Ethel as Unfinished Characters, as you've already done, but *probably* fine to categorize the actors as cameos assuming we have an extended edition or DVD footage "deleted scenes" section (the cameo by Kelly Osbourne, and I think all of Edward Hibbert's scene as well, was cut from The Muppets' Wizard of Oz as aired but included on DVD as the "extended edition.") and that the page clarifies the status. Since we don't know that yet, I'd say take out the tags for now (and it should be just cameos for everyone but Sykes and Trejo anyway, since the others were as themselves, or seem to be anyway). So wait and see, basically. Does that make sense? (Also Scott is on Thanksgiving vacation and might want to weigh in; we should leave a note on his talk page). -- Andrew Leal (talk) 23:20, November 23, 2011 (UTC)
I think it's hard to tell before we know fir sure. Some of the reported cameos may still be incorrect. Probably best to wait until we either see footage on the DVD or get a second source to confirm that they did indeed film something. —Scott (message me) 12:26, December 20, 2011 (UTC)
Kelly Osbourne and Edward Hibbert, while not appearing in the broadcast version of the movie, did appear in the DVD version of the movie. So they did appear in a Muppet movie (albeit an "extended edition" DVD movie). These cameos, while filmed for the movie, are being presented outside of the movie simply as a Blu-ray feature. So I don't think they should count as Muppet movie actors (the Blu-ray didn't add them to the movie). -- Brad D. (talk) 13:48, March 8, 2012 (UTC)
If they're on the home video release, we should include them. If not, and no other evidence can be found that they filmed cameos, then we should not include them. We'll know in a couple weeks for sure. —Scott (message me) 20:31, March 8, 2012 (UTC)
But they're on the home video release in a bonus feature, not in the actual movie. -- Brad D. (talk) 13:49, March 9, 2012 (UTC)

Cameos and ActorsEdit

Okay, with all the reorganization, to some extent cameos and actors are melded. Right now, if a performer appeared as a character, however small, I'm putting them in both categories. However, for folks like Quentin Tarantino, Edgar Bergen, or Ed Koch who appeared as themselves, I'm just putting them in cameos only. How's that sound? --Aleal 18:22, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, that sounds good! -- Danny Toughpigs 13:15, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
Sounds good to me too. -- BradFraggle 01:31, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
I'll take that as a consensus, then (and future model for these categories)! --Andrew, Aleal 02:38, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
