Why do we need this category, when we already have Muppet Monsters? -- Danny (talk) 15:48, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

I agree. And in fact, with Brad's changes to Frackles most of the articles for fan-named, minor figures like Elderly Frackle, Green-Furred Frackle, and Pink Frackle are obsolete anyway. I'd assuemd, that as per Talk:Frackles, the goal was to merge all of them, not create a new category for them. I tend to feel the same way about Category:Grouches. Yeah, there's [[:Category:Aliens]] and [[:Category:Robots]], both of which are small and not essential, but they also cover a wide range of series, Creature Shop and Muppets. With the others, I don't see why the existing character indexes need to be replaced with categories. Yeah, maybe it's easier to update a category, but it's also harder to make distinctions. -- Andrew Leal (talk) 06:13, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
I created this category to identify and group all the Frackle pages that exist on the wiki in one place. Personally I think we can delete it, and some of the pages in it too. Pages like Thog, Mo Frackle and even Cigar Box Frackle (Snarl) are worthy of saving. But Scoff, Alarm Frackle, Elderly Frackle and [[Purple Frackle]] and (my least favorite named page) [[Dark Green Hunchback Frackle]] could be dropped all together (by merging the info into the Frackles page). Aside from a picture and filmography, most of these pages hold no information (other than a comparison to Boppity's appearance). The Frackles are cool, but are pretty much nameless and personalityless characters like Whatnots. I think some clean up in regards to Frackles is in order. And if this category goes, I won't be upset at the least.
I did create a Grouches category. I think that one is useful (similar to Sesame Street monsters). I don't envision a need for a "Birds", "Frogs" or "Snuffleupaguses" categories. But in the case of Grouches (just like Monsters), there are enough of them and they have a big part in the Sesame Street culture and universe. If you really object and don't want it, I won't be heartbroken. Maybe we could turn it into a "themes" category and add grouchy locations, songs, books, skits, productions, and other cultural items. -- Brad D. (talk) 07:42, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
I agree, I like Grouches. I'm pretty much ditto'ing what Brad said -- Grouches have personalities and characters, Frackles don't. Frackles are more like Anything Muppets and Kids. -- Danny (talk) 11:13, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, I think Grouches is different. However, some of them are more relevant than others. I would say that the Grouchland one-line characters fall in a Frackle categroy, where characters like Granny Grouch don't.
The Grouchland movie used a ton of newly made grouches, and they are now used as "AM Grouches" at Sesame Street, the same way AM Monsters are. They have so many from the Grouchland movie that they can use them as walk-on characters and such. Anyway, maybe an AM Grouch gallery and then an Oscar extended Family gallery? I dunno, just trhowing ideas out there. Scooter 15:14, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
I guess it makes sense, but I'm just a trifle concerned about what it leads to. As of now, Dean is working on a "Birds" category, and at some point, someone may want a "Bears" category. So, basically, do we just turn every substantial list in Muppet Character Types into a category? Frankly, and this is partially a personal preference, I prefer lists, with subdivisions (which Birds doesn't have yet but Cats does), where one can make distinctions between puppet and illustrated characters (again, something I miss from the Grouches list), to full-on categories. At some point, they start to become clutter rather than navigational tools. -- Andrew Leal (talk) 02:08, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
Dude, just tell Dean to stop, and delete the Birds category. That's all. -- Danny (talk) 02:15, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
