Capitalized names
For the record -- based on the novel and other printed sources of the names, the proper spelling of the individual skeksis and mystics do not capitalize the leading letter in the name's prefix ("ur" and "skek"). So SkekSil should be skekSil, and UrIm should be urIm. And somewhat releated, the species UrSkek is actually urSkek.
So when writting the names of the skeksis and mystics in articles we should make sure we don't improperly present the names.
I know the wiki software has quirks that prevents the articles from starting with lowercase letters. So for example, iTunes would become ITunes and eBay would be EBay - so the urIm article is stuck being UrIm. However I know Wikipedia has found a way around this problem with some kind of fancy template. Is there a way we can get around this so we can properly present the characters' names? Do we care that these article titles improperly capitalize the names? Just thought I would bring it up. -- Brad D. (talk) 22:19, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
- For myself, I don't care that much, since it could just be fixed within the article's title; plus, the names were mainly an internal universe thing anyway, which matters a lot I suppose when dealing with the novel and Froud's extensive background writings, but less so in the film itself (the screen credits and most interviews with puppeteers and production crew other than Froud use the occupations, Chamberlain, High Priest, etc., in sort of the same way that Froud developed individual names for the Goblins in Labyrinth as part of his universe building, but none of it was in the film and nobody save him seemed to bother with them.) I'm fine with adjusting it in the article text, that makes sense, but I'm not sure it's worth going to the extra work for the page titles; not just now, anyway (since Danny's still away and I don't know if Scott's up to it, and I sure don't want to have to dig around to try to find where such a template is on Wikipedia and then try to break it down; as mentioned in other conversations, as with the family trees, a lot of Wikipedia's code for the more complicated templates and stuff is insanely complex and hard to simply port over here). If you want to give it a go yourself, though, more power to you! You'd be a better man than I am, Gunga Din, and all that. -- Andrew Leal (talk) 22:32, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
