American Greetings is the world's largest greeting card company. Carlton Cards is American Greetings' Canadian branch. The company also markets under various brand names: party supplies as DesignWare, calendars as DateWorks, and stickers as Stickety-Doo-Da.

American Greetings produced two waves of Muppet and Muppet Babies products, in 1992-1993 and in 2006-2007. The Muppet products included greeting cards, stickers, Christmas ornaments, valentines, keychains, magnets and calendars.

American Greetings has also produced a line of Sesame Street greeting cards, stickers and Christmas ornaments, starting in 1999.

In 1985, American Greetings acquired rival Drawing Board, which had produced a line of Sesame Street party in the late 70s and early 80s, including some under the brand name DesignWare.

In 1999, American Greetings acquired Gibson Greetings, which had also produced Sesame Street and Muppet products in the late 80s and early 90s.
