Can You Tell Me How to Get to Sesame Street? is a Sesame Street book-and-tape set that was released for the CBS Toys Electronic Talk 'n Play interactive toy in 1984. It was later re-released by Playskool.

On the tape, Prairie Dawn and several other characters guide the listener through a series of puzzles on the way to Sesame Street. The tape includes the "Sesame Street Theme" and "The People in Your Neighborhood."

Summary[]

Prairie welcomes the reader and asks them to choose which friend they want to help them get to Sesame Street - Oscar the Grouch, Cookie Monster, Ernie, or Grover. The chosen character leads them to Big Bird, who suggests they pass through Count von Count's castle nearby. The Count has the reader count how many bats are flying in his belfry before leading them to the cave of Mr. Snuffleupagus.

Snuffy asks the reader to choose which is the front door of his cave leading to the back door (suggested by his trail of giant footprints). A letter carrier then introduces some of the other people in the neighborhood (partially through song), and the reader has the choice of asking one of the four Anything Muppet characters for directions. Simon Soundman's home is next, where Simon is busy building a doghouse. He asks for the whereabouts of his saw before learning that Biff (accompanied by Sully) has been using it.

Big Bird returns to ask for help in finding which missing letter will help finish one of his poems. Afterward, Sherlock Hemlock stops the reader for a moment to identify which image of him is not like the others before they move on to Ernie and Bert. As Bert tends to his pigeons, he explains how Bernice can lead them to one of four characters who will give them the next set of directions: Guy Smiley from one of his TV shows, Fred the Wonder Horse at his stable, Cookie Monster in his food-oriented house, or the Amazing Mumford's magic show.

A trip down Oscar's trash can is next, where he and Slimey guide the reader through one of four paths on to Sesame Street - his kitchen, the grand staircase, Slimey's mud pile, or the garden. This finally leads the reader to the rest of the Sesame Street gang, who welcomes them with a performance of the Sesame Street theme song.
