Butch is a Bengal tiger who made various appearances on The Muppet Show, starting in season 4. He also appeared on Sesame Street.
He got his name from episode 416, when he teamed up with a lion as "Butch and Sundance", running away from an animal training act.
This appearance was a parody of the movie "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" from 1969. The original Butch was played by Paul Newman, with Robert Redford as the Sundance Kid. Both leading actors were written into a gag in episode 101, in which Juliet Prowse considers Kermit 'the Robert Redford of frogs'.
