The 1977 Bob Hope Christmas Special featured a short segment with Big Bird of Sesame Street. (Hope says he first tried to get Francis the Talking Mule and Jaws, but neither were available.)

During dialogue with Hope, Big Bird reveals that his mother was "a yellow-breasted hornswabble talking tiki", and his father "was a yellow-winged liver-lillied fender-bender." When asked by Bob what that made him, he replied "A chicken with a gland problem?"

Other guests included Lucille Ball, Neil Simon, Don Rickles, and Norman Lear.

The special has been released on DVD as "Bob Hope's World of Comedy" in 2007 as part of a box set, Bob Hope: The Ultimate Collection.
