Bernie the Agent is a Hollywood talent scout who gets lost in a swamp in The Muppet Movie, and encounters Kermit the Frog. Impressed with Kermit's talent and pluck, Bernie tells him about Lew Lord's open auditions for a talented frog, and encourages him to try his luck in Hollywood. Bernie is soon driven away by Arnie the Alligator, but not before setting the plot in motion.

Bernie, like the Bernie often mentioned as the agent of Miss Piggy and other characters, was named in honor of Jim Henson's agent, Bernie Brillstein.
