Bernie the Agent appeared in The Muppet Movie. Encountering Kermit the Frog while lost on a fishing trip, Bernie tells Kermit of Lew Lord's open auditions for a talented frog, and encourages him to try his luck in Hollywood. Bernie is soon driven away by Arnie the Alligator, but not before setting the plot in motion.

Bernie, like the Bernie often mentioned as the agent of Miss Piggy and other characters, was named in honor of Bernie Brillstein.
