Audra McDonald (b. 1970) is an American singer and actress. She has won six Tony Awards, a record for any actor, for her roles in the Broadway musicals Carousel, Ragtime (originating the role of Sarah, co-starring with Brian Stokes Mitchell and Peter Friedman), and Porgy and Bess and the plays Master Class and Raisin in the Sun. She has also appeared on TV's Private Practice.
McDonald provided the singing vocals for a chicken in the "Circus the Musical" episode of "Elmo the Musical," performing the song "Keep on Clucking." She also made an appearance in person, playing a zookeeper, in a season 44 episode. Previously, McDonald recorded a cover of "Bein' Green" for her album Build a Bridge.
