Association of Zoos & Aquariums
From Muppet Wiki
Kermit the Frog appeared in Washington, D.C. sponsored by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums on March 12, 2008. He spoke alongside conservationists to help promote awareness of endangered amphibians across the globe.[1]
He mentions that AZA has dubbed 2008 "The Year of the Frog" in an effort to combat the forthcoming extinction of animals due to loss of habitat as a result of pollution and changes in climate.
TheHill.com interviewed Kermit, asking about his future political career. "Would I consider running for office?" Kermit answered. "I'd probably hop for office before I'd run. Ha ha! I don't know... Perhaps. I could, y'know, what am I good at? Should I start small, like a mayor, move up the chain? Sure, sure. Why not? Change you can believe in." Kermit chuckled, and then called for a taxi. [2]
During 2007, Kermit was in talks with three international conservation groups for similar efforts with the Year of the Frog.[3]
Kermit had previously appeared on Capitol Hill to support the Shambala Wild Animal Protection Act of 2000.
