Arnie is the ever-present maintenance man in The Cube. A cheerful, low-key workman, he pops into the cube periodically to supply the man with furnishings and other comforts, or to repair damages. Arnie just does his job without really asking about what "they" are doing with the cubes, though he feels the management lacks organization.

Arnie greets the man as "pal," with a friendly smile, and also deflates the pomposity of such visitors as the interior decorator and the scientist. His biggest problem, apart from seeing to the various cubes, is figuring out what to do with four tons of chocolate rabbits.
