Annet van Heusden played Annet on Sesamstraat, the Dutch co-production of Sesame Street, from 1976 to 1977.
Kindergarten teacher Annet was responsible for scenes with children. Along with Sien Diels and Piet Hendriks, she was a part of the original Sesamstraat cast from the first season.
The concept did not work, because the kids could not act spontaneously in the TV studio. Annet's Sesamstraat career ended in the second season. Later on in the series, the producers would try a different approach with actors Joyce Clemens, Rudy Kühn and Gerard Kuster.
Nowadays, the actors visit classrooms and kindergartens, or talk to children on location. Many episodes end with one of the actors reading a story to children in the studio.
Annet van Heusden also wrote the Sesamstraat stories in the book Het Boek Van Ienie Mienie En Haar Vriendjes.
