Alfre Woodard in Gulliver's Travels
Alfre Woodard (b. 1952) is a television and film actress, nominated for an Academy Award for the 1983 film Cross Creek. Her other film credits include How to Make an American Quilt, Star Trek: First Contact, and The Singing Detective (with Robert Downey, Jr., Mel Gibson, and Jon Polito). Woodard's television work includes Hill Street Blues, St. Elsewhere (regular as Dr. Roxanne Turner), L.A. Law, The Practice and Desperate Housewives (in a recurring role as Betty Applewhite).
Woodard played the Queen of Brobdignag in the 1996 Creature Shop miniseries, Gulliver's Travels. The performance garnered her an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress for a Miniseries or Special.
