Alaska is part of the United States of America, and was the 49th state admitted to the union.
- In 2006, Governor Frank Murkowski of Alaska taped a "Healthy Habits for Life" PSA with Elmo and Rosita, for use on PBS. In the ad, the governor and the Muppets try hummus, carrots, burritos, and mangos, and at the end, Murkowski shows the monsters a dish of Alaskan wild salmon.
- Sesame Street filmed a series of short films in Alaska during 1986. One featured a girl getting ready for school, doing so in a song called "Ookyook," which is Inuit for "winter." The film was recycled for a Global Grover segment.
- Joe Raposo wrote a song for Sesame Street called "I Like Alaska," with a montage of kids saying what their hobbies are, and what they like about their community.
