The Alarm Clock Bird is briefly seen in the 1999 film The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland. The small yellow bird pops out of Elmo's alarm clock, in cuckoo clock fashion, and hollers for him to wake up.
The bird puppet has also been used in various episodes of Sesame Street. Performers for the puppet include Martin P. Robinson, Rick Lyon, Cheryl Blaylock, Richard Hunt, and Joey Mazzarino.
The puppet design was later reworked as Arthur for the Japanese Sesame Street co-production and Birdie for the resource video Little Children, Big Challenges: Divorce.
Internally in 2016, Peter Linz was told the puppet was known as "Canario."[1]
