Alan Stanford

Alan Stanford is an Irish actor who appeared in the Creature Shop-effects TV movie Animal Farm as the unscrupulous Mr. Pilkington.
As artistic director of the Second Age Theatre Company, Stanford has scripted adaptations of Oliver Twist and Jane Eyre, and directed plays from Wilde to Beckett. His film credits include Educating Rita (with Michael Caine and Julie Walters), Taffin (with Pierce Brosnan and Alison Doody), the 1996 Moll Flanders (with Morgan Freeman and Stockard Channing), the 2001 "Beckett on Film" adaptation of Waiting for Godot (as the tyrannical Pozzo), and the 2005 version of Lassie. In television, Stanford was a regular the popular RTE soap opera Glenroe (as George Manning, eventually killed in the Peruvian jungle while observing condors), and guest appearances on The Irisih R.M., Z Cars, and Ballykissangel.
