The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has held a ceremony for the Academy Awards since 1929. Beginning in 1953, the celebration has been televised. The Muppets have made several appearances at these ceremonies.
- 1979 - Miss Piggy presents an award with Johnny Carson after they exchange some banter.
- 1982 - Kermit and Piggy sing "The First Time It Happens."
- 1986 - Kermit, Scooter and Jim Henson present the award for "Best Short Film, Animated" to Cilia Van Dijk, Producer of Anna & Bella. Kermit gets a bit frazzled when Scooter is physically unable to open the envelope to announce the winner. An appearance by Jim Henson quickly rectifies the situation. Statler and Waldorf also make an appearance from the audience.
- 1996 - Whoopi Goldberg interviews the title character from the movie Babe, who appears on a monitor. Halfway through the interview, the screen changes to Miss Piggy, who takes over the interview.
