A Cathedral Christmas is a TV concert special that aired on PBS in 1997. The special consists of footage from a Christmas concert held at the Washington National Cathedral by Denyce Graves. The special was later released on CD in September 1998 and on video in October 1998.
The special begins with a pre-taped segment featuring the Sesame Street Muppets. Denyce finds Elmo asleep in his Shepard costume, warning him the show is about to start. She begins to sing "Rise Up, Shepherd and Follow," as some sheep appear to bleat along. Elmo finally wakes up and joins in. The song is included on the album version, however, Elmo's portions are cut out completely though the bleating sheep can be heard.
