Édouard Manet (1832-1883) was a French painter, who was part of the transition from Realism to Impressionism.

His painting, Young Flautist, or The Fifer, was spoofed in the Sesame Street coloring book Museum of Monster Art with Ernie taking the place of the Fifer.
